Philips Bdp3200 Region Hack

  1. Philips Bdp3200 Region Hack Code

Hey Guys,I'm in Aus' and just picked this player up. I tried the above and thats exactly what comes up. Then i remembered the Firmware disc that comes with the unit and has the attached sticker on it with instructions. Once i updated the F/W it opens up the ability to change the regions for both Bluray and DVD.They are both working great with a variety of titles i have tried. The only caveat if there is one, is for the Bluray side of things is that you need to change the region each time you want to use a different region disc (no biggy for me as i wanted specifically just for region 1 discs). Also attached a pic of the F/W that was on the disc.

Personally I would prefer an iso file. Then we would get an exact copy of your disc. But if it is easier for you, then I suppose ripping it would also work.I am almost sure the regionfree setup will still work after an online firmware upgrade of your player. It would be strange if Toshiba made it so it would be lost, unless it is specifically mentioned in the papers that it will do so. Most likely there will be many firmware upgrades, and Toshiba can't expect that the customers bring their player to a servicecentre each time. Did anyone try the regionfree firmware that SirSTI so generously provided us on a BDX3100KE? I think it will work fine.

The only thing I am a bit unsure of is that if you are on a higher firmware version than the regionfree firmware, if it will accept a firmware downgrade. The regionfree firmware for the BDX3100KY is version 28.I bought a Toshiba BDX1200KE (European model) and installed the regionfree Australian firmware for BDX1200KY, and it works great.I now have a regionfree DVD and multiregion BD player. It takes about 3 seconds to change BD region, no need for reboot. Just to press Setup, 8520, set region, Setup. The only question now is if I dare to upgrade the firmware if/when there will come a firmware update.

I am pretty sure the DVD regionfree will stay intact, but I'm not 100% sure if the Blu-Ray multiregion will survive an upgrade. This is brilliant news Viking61.So the firmware provided was for the 3100 model, yet you have a 1200 model and it worked fine without any tweaks or mods to the firmware?I would guess that similar to the XE1 HDDVD player, that once the firmware was done with region free it stayed even after upgrading to higher.Well im pretty sure this is possibly The best way to get Multi-Region DVD and Blu at the cheapest of cost.Off hunting for best price Toshiba Bluray player.BIG thanks to SirSTI for passing this on.neuty.

I remember buying this when they had it on special for $98.the player is good but having the eject button as the stop button also is annoying.for the wireless usb you can only use the one they say and it is really expensive. I used my wireless router through the ethernet port of the bluray player. I had the idea that doing this would allow me to stream from computer but all the network for this does is youtube and the bluray plus (have not tried the bluray plus for any of my blurays, is it really worth it).i have found that this will play through usb mp4s that my wdtv wont play. Cant remember if i have played any mkvs though. I Also had my order refunded to me without notice. And it was 2 WEEKS later after my order when I found this out.Thankfully I paid via paypal and as soon as I made a complaint and started a paypal dispute it was shipped out immediately! This is wrong DSE.It shouldn't take a customer calling you on your bullshit to fix something that is illegal. Not to mention the issue has been logged with the ACCC now which will build a case if this should happen again to others, so always complain to the ACCC if things like this happens. In the event anyone reads this, I called DSE a few days ago (last day of January) and spoke to the customer service rep asking for an update to my order (as it has been a month that it has been stuck in 'Amending Order' status After a few moments waiting I am informed my order has become a 'NO SALE' and that there were 4 players in the warehouse but all were defective.

I was then offered a Sony BDPS380 (normally $99) for the same price of $63.20 which I thought was a good deal so accepted the offer.Having played with it now for a little while, its not too bad, menu is nicer than the philips, and the info screen is more detailed. Can eject the disc tray pretty much the moment you switch it on unlike other players that take a while to load up before you can eject the discFor what I paid I'm pretty happy. Have not tried the movie streaming feature that the player features may have give it a shot later on when I have the time to play with it.
