I'm not real familiar with the whole thing but it appears to be doing exactly what I want it to do, backing up my files in case of a computer crash. I've had that happen before with some not-so-good results. Mostly lots of work on my part to get things working on my replacement computer. Since that hasn't happened yet I'm not sure how the Seagate will work, but its looking good so far. I also hope to use the extra storage for some videos, we'll see how that works. For the low cost and easy install I'm very happy.

A Much Needed Peripheral For My Windows Laptop PC My laptop has an internal 68GB hard drive with about 47GB hard drive space used so the WD external hard drive with 1TB is a much needed source of disk space for my Windows back-ups. Now I can feel more secure about my files and even free up disk space by transferring any files onto the external HD. The only 'downside' I can think of is that my laptop pc is 2.0 usb capable so this WD external HD with 3.0 usb capability will run a little slower but this is not a major problem for me.
I only use my computer at home for non-work purposes and more as like a hobby of mine so I don't need to worry too much about the speed of my computer. Overall, I'm glad that I purchased this and the price was quite reasonable and affordable for me.
